Someone on my friends list made a post that said miss you which people commented on.. which isn’t what hit a nerve with me. It was what was said in one of the comments. Some how the conversation got on the subject of a party that I guess happened. and someone asked “is it gay?”
I’m sorry but that to me is not okay. I don’t care whether you believe in gay marriage/relationships or not. That is your own opinion but it is NEVER okay to use the word “Gay” as a way to describe something that was bad or sucked! Because though you may believe it is an okay thing or not, it is not okay to use the word as a way to describe something bad. Because that than shows that believing that being Gay is a bad thing and its not. There are so many other words that can be used to describe a situation other than “gay” like Boring, Lame, Unexciting etc.
In society these days, we make it seem like it is okay to use a certain religion, nationality, sexual orientation, etc. to describe something distasteful or unlikable, and I’m sorry but it’s not, regardless of what you believe whether it’s for or against. It is never okay to use a group of people as a way to describe something bad.
Now if you haven’t gathered yet, I fully support gay marriage/relationships, One of my very best friends is gay. And I have no problem being very vocal about my support of the gay community. I will never back down and change my views on something that I believe in. I listen to other sides, see it from both sides of the fence but in the end you can’t change my views and I won’t try to change yours.
Everyone has a right to there opinion, but it’s one thing to voice your opinion on something you feel strongly about and using said word or group etc as a way to describe something you don’t like.
Sorry for the rant but that comment really hit a nerve with me.
Hope you all are having a great day or great night..depending where you are in the world. And just know that no matter who you are, there is absolutely nothing wrong with who you are or being who you are. Always Be Yourself.
